Dear Andrea,
Since 2004 ( forgetting the 2002 and 2003, I know you produced good wines in 2002 and 2003 ) the producers in Piemonte have been producing great vintages. I seems like the producers have been very lucky with the weather and 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 are good vintages. Can you tell me the differences between the vintages please. I know it is a long story, but interesting for me and the forum members.
Ciao

You're right, it could be a very long answer to your question.I'll try to make it simple!
2004: what else can we say?A vintage that we will all remember in the future as one of the greatest, togheter with 96 - 89 - 78
2005:very very elegant and refined, with good freshness and, in general, wines a bit more approachable
2006:very simylar to 2004 in style, but with a touch of minerality and elegance that was lacking in 04.Wines for aging, but less hard and tannic in its youth.
2007:a somewhat richer vintage, plenty of body and fruits here.Good tannins but the wines remember me a bit of the richness of 98.
2008:It was one of the latest harvest I remember. We were used to pick up Nebbiolo from the begin until the first half of October. In this year we finished harvest on 24 October (my birthday, and it was the same 34 years ago!)
The wines are very balanced and complete; good structure very good colours and a great elegance and purity of fruit. Not all the wines in my cellar have completed yet the malolactical, but I can tell you yet this will be a classic vintage!

Hi Andrea,
What does the 2005 remind you of?'
Also good to hear about the 2008. Many producers are saying this is another '71 in the making. Old style Nebbiolo.

Hi Ralph,
well 2005 is a bit difficult to collocate; it reminds a blend of 98 and 99...
2008....well, this will be great for sure.At now it's a bit early to compare with other vintages, but everything it's at the right place to be a classic vintage!

HI Ralph,
2005 is a bit difficult to collocate...it makes me think about something between 98 and 99...
08 is simply awesome! Now it's too early to predict which vintage will be similar, but be sure that everything it's at the right place to think it will be a classic vintage!
