Buonasera Andrea,
My wife and I are planning a visit to Piemonte in the first week of May.
What better source for some good tips than from a wineproducer from the region?
So, can you give me some advice on things (wineries, restaurants etc) I really MUST visit?
Would be really great!
ciao!

I know at least one interesting producer in Neive. When coming from Alba, just turn right at the electricity house which has a sign "Loc. Cotta" _________________ "If you think you have everything under control, you just don't drive fast enough" (Ayrton Senna) |

Dear Paul,
If you have the occasion, I will be very happy to welcome you here in my cellar; here there are some suggestions on where you can eat or drink well:most part of this places have a website or a link.
Great places with great wine list( and great food, of course...)in an elegant ambient.
-Antine' - Barbaresco
-La Ciau del Tornavento - Treiso
-Locanda del Pilone - Madonna di Como - alba
-Locanda delBorgo Antico - Barolo
- Da Renzo - Cervere
- Conti Roero - Monticello d'Alba
Great places, typical and informal ambient, but with great wine list
- La Piola - vezza d'Alba
- Bottega dei 4 vini - Neive
- Osteria del Brutto Anatroccolo - Pezzolo Valle Uzzone, near Cortemilia,
far but it worth a visit
- La Libera - Alba ( a great bistro in the center of Alba, a must!)
- Enoclub - Alba ( very nice and not expensive bistro in the center)
About to sleep, it's full of B&B here or nice hotels.
A good B&B near me is CarlinCarlota, Neive
Or always in Neive Hotel dei 4 Vini.
But if you want the best, Relais & Chatau San Maurizio, Valdivilla...
Ciao, Andrea |

Hi Andrea,
I'm going to Piemonte in September, but i wonder if in that time the winemakers welcome 'tourists' to there estate.
I know that in some wine areas people cannot just come to the wineries. How is that in Barbaresco? Do you have to make an appointment with the winemakers to visit there winerie or can you just 'walk in'? |

dear Bartt,
also if in September we will be busy, if you call or write for an appointment you will find a lot of producers that they will welcome you.
Of curse, the time will be, as I normally do, right in the morning, or in the lunch stop, or in the late afternoon if we are harvesting; if not, there are no problems at all.
Hope to see you( and maybe you can come and help us to harvest )
Ciao, Andrea |

Hello Andrea,
Thank you very much for the fascinating explanations of your wines, your view on winemaking and on the influence of terroir. I'm getting more curious by the day to taste your wines and learn more about Italian wines.
This summer, end of august to be specific, I will be on holiday in the Piemonte region and I would like to visit you. Would that be possible? I will give you a ring in advance.
Thank you also for the good addresses. I will definitely book a table in Antine (looked up their website - very reasonable prices for a 1 star Michelin)
Best regards,

Hahaha i don't know if you want me to help
Thanks for the invitation, i'll keep it in mind. Talking about wine is always better in person then via the internet. And you can talk about wines during drinking and tasting wines that's even better. |

Dear Winnetou,
no problems at all for the visit; let me know it with a little advance and, if the weather if good we could make a tour in the vineyards too.
Dear Bartt,
You are right, when it's possible it's always better to visit and talk personally with the producer and see the cellar and the vineyards.
...and if you want to try the work in the vineyards, my invitation was not a joke!
Ciao, Andrea |

Hello Andrea,
As a lot of other 'prikkers' my girlfriend and I are planning a couple of days in the Piemonte. That will be in the last week of June or the first week of July. I would love to visit your winery and taste some of your wines. I think that, reading your other answer, that will be no problem. And of course I take the list of your recommendations with me.
I'll get in touch!
Ciao,
Freek
